Lisa graduated with a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford in 2002 and embarked on a DPhil. Her work involved the development of a novel in situ method for assessing social preference in broiler chickens, in addition to modelling the feeding dynamics of broilers housed under commercial conditions. After completing her DPhil in 2005, she was appointed Lecturer in Biology at St. John’s College. Simultaneously, she carried out post-doctoral research in collective animal behaviour, carrying out experiments and creating mathematical models to describe the social foraging behaviour of Lasius niger ant colonies.

Lisa joined the RVC in 2007 as a post-doctoral research associate in quantitative behaviour and epidemiology. This saw her using statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to investigate the effect of environment and environment change on laying hens. This project is ongoing, but she has since been promoted to her current position and she is now involved in a number of projects across the RVC, by developing a variety of mathematical models of disease transmission and social behaviour. She is now employed as a Research Fellow in Quantitative Epidemiology.
