The Epidemiology Division is part of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences in The Royal Veterinary College, and was formed in April 2000. It currently has 5 academic staff members who are actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as research. The Division is working from the Hawkshead Campus of the Royal Veterinary College, which is located in the north of London, but can be reached within 40 minutes by train from Central London.

The Division sees its particular strengths in the provision of postgraduate teaching at MSc level and in epidemiological research. Strategic linkages have been developed with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and DEFRA's Veterinary Laboratories Agency as part of postgraduate training. Research links exist to the Epidemiology and Risk Assessment Departments within DEFRA's Veterinary Laboratories Agency, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (Rome), Institute for Animal Health (UK), CIRAD (France) and ARC- Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute (South Africa).

Since April 2001, the Division has been an official FAO Collaborating Centre (with worldwide coverage) for Animal Health and Production Information Systems.

Both, postgraduate training and research are aimed at the national as well as the international level. Staff are involved with research in Africa, Asia and Europe, as well as training of postgraduate students originating from these continents.
